BENEFITS AND ADVANTAGES OF THE CDS PRECISION LINK CONVEYOR
There are many technical benefits and advantages which make the CDS Precision Link Conveyor the best value in the market place. For many years, Cam Driven Systems (CDS) has manufactured their own proprietary design of solid cam followers. These have proportionally larger diameter studs and thicker roller shells than needle-type cam followers of similar size. CDS cam followers are solid friction followers with no needle bearings. The most common failure of most indexers on the market is the wearing out and eventual failure of the needle bearings inside the cam follower. The CDS cam follower design has eliminated this problem, and provide a much thicker outside wall, which will better absorb extreme shocks or overloads.
Cam followers with needle bearings, as used by most competitors, have a thinner outside wall thickness in order to house the needles. This thinner outside wall is also more prone to cracking over time or by machine overloads and jams. The CDS design is meant to have the cam followers last much longer.
In addition, CDS designs their units so that there are always two cam followers engaged throughout the entire operation. This provides more accuracy and rigidity for their units.
CDS indexers have a rated capacity based on a
conservative safety factor of 1.75, compared to 1.3 used by most other
manufacturers.
