SPOTLIGHT ON THE SUGINO VARIMEC SERVO DRILL UNIT

We would like to make you more familiar with the Sugino Varimec series of programmable servo drill units.  Sugino introduced these fully-programmable drilling units into the market place just a few years ago and already they are proving their superiority in hole making throughout the world.  This newer generation of programmable servo drill unit is more versatile and accurate than many of its counterparts.  Because of its more precise nature, you can produce better parts and eliminate many hand operations.  In the long run, this will save you time and money by increasing production, reducing scrap and extending tool life.  Take a look at some of these Varimec features:

  1. Greater versatility – the controller stores up to 99 individual programs and comes with 13 preprogrammed drill modes to simplify set-up and production.

  2. High rigidity - linear slides guide the quill and increase the unit's rigidity, eliminating side load chattering.  This also allows you to perform end-milling and face-milling operations, which is challenge for most drill units.

  3. High accuracy - spindle runout is under 0.0004" TIR and depth repeatability it +/- 0.0008".

  4. Excellent universality - the spindle rotation speed can be freely adjusted to flexibly respond to the workpiece design changes.  Units can also be equipped with multiple-spindle or offset drill heads.

  5. Compact size – reduced overall size allows you to meet all of your requirements in a smaller footprint.

VARIMEC SERVO DRILLING UNITS 

MODEL SSV2

MODEL SSV3

·         The newest and smallest of the Varimec series with two models:  SSV2-7200 and SSV2-1039

·         High speed and high power in a small package

·         Perfect for smaller holes such as needle or pin holes in nozzles, shafts, or pistons

·         SSV2-7200 has an RPM range from 2,000 – 20,000 and can drill up to .275" in aluminum and .138" in steel

·         SSV2-1039 has an RPM range from 390 – 3900 and can drill up to .335" in aluminum and .256" in steel

·         Both units deliver 270 lbs. of thrust yet only weigh 33 lbs.

·         This Varimec series has two models:  SSV3-7100 and SSV3-1626

·         Best suited for deep and small hole drilling

·         SSV3-7100 has an RPM range from 1,000 – 10,000 and can drill up to .256" in aluminum and .157" in steel

·         SSV3-1626 has an RPM range from 265 – 2,650 and can drill up to .472" in aluminum and .315" in steel

·         Thrust is 360 lbs. and max stroke is 7.87"

·         Short length and compact size is ideal where space is a limiting factor

MODEL SSV4

·         This Varimec series has two models:  SSV4-2070 and SSV4-2017

·         Its body structure makes it best suited for doing stepped spot facing or burnishing drill operations, but can do more high-efficient processing in a variety of materials

·         SSV4-2070 has an RPM range from 1,000 – 7,000 and can drill up to .354" in aluminum and .275" in steel

·         SSV4-2017 has an RPM range from 250 – 1,750 and can drill up to .630" in aluminum and .512" in steel

·         This unit has a thrust of 1,304 lbs. and a max stroke of 9.84"

·         This Varimec series has two models:  SSV5-2055 and SSV5-2610

·         This is a high-power workhorse is available as a low speed high torque model or a high speed model

·         SSV5-2055 has an RPM range from 800 – 5,500 and can drill up to .570" in aluminum and .374" in steel

·         SSV5-2610 has an RPM range from 150 – 1,010 and can drill up to .984" in aluminum and .708" in steel

·         This unit has a thrust of 1,744 lbs. and a max. stroke of 11.81"
